Beautifully designed, naturally lit learning spaces that connect seamlessly throughout and all open to expansive outdoor areas for exploration and discovery

At ELK, our centre has been lovingly crafted by educators, architects and artists to create inspiring environments where children can flourish.

Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we believe the environment is a powerful teacher. Our  indoor spaces are intentionally designed to nurture curiosity, creativity and collaboration, inviting children to explore ideas, work alongside peers and engage in meaningful learning.

With open-ended materials, natural textures and carefully considered learning areas, our classrooms support both shared investigation and quiet reflection. Every environment at ELK is designed to honour children’s capabilities, foster connection and create opportunities for deep, engaging learning.

Because when environments are thoughtfully designed, children are empowered to think deeply, collaborate meaningfully and learn with joy.

At ELK, our outdoor environments are designed as rich, living spaces where children can move, create, investigate and connect with the natural world. More than just play areas, these environments are an extension of the classroom — inviting curiosity, collaboration and meaningful hands-on learning every day.

Children can explore natural play spaces including a cubby house, outdoor kitchen, sandpits and gardens, all of which encourage imaginative play, sensory discovery and a growing sense of responsibility as they care for the environment alongside their educators. These spaces provide opportunities for children to gather, create, role play and engage in shared experiences with peers in ways that feel authentic and purposeful.

Large climbing forts, slides and open-ended movement areas support children to build physical confidence, resilience and coordination, while also encouraging risk assessment and problem-solving through play. Open spaces for art and sensory exploration invite children to experiment with materials, express themselves creatively and explore the changing elements of the outdoor environment.

We believe the outdoor environment is one that offers endless opportunities for inquiry, wonder and connection. Natural textures, open-ended resources and thoughtfully curated spaces encourage children to investigate their ideas, collaborate with others and deepen their understanding of the world around them.

At ELK, our outdoor environments are designed to be calm, engaging and full of possibility — spaces where children can flourish through movement, imagination and discovery.
